Are You Willing to Be Uncomfortable?
If you want a dramatic boost in your confidence I recommend doing social freedom challenges. If you are afraid of getting humiliated, humiliating yourself on purpose is the ultimate fear killer. But I don’t want you to only see them as challenges of fear, but an opportunity for EXPRESSION of wisdom and FUN! It’s easier and more fun to do it with a friend who can watch you and back you up. I personally had nobody around when I did the “idiot” stunt in 2009, which I still view as the moment I broke free from being a social anxiety victim. Have fun and feel free to report back your experience. This is showing true viking power!
Exercise 1 – Speak to People in a Different Language
Speak to people in a different language! Or just make it up! If the situation gets weird and awkward, great, thats the point! Enjoy your own little secret that you are messing with reality.
Level 1: Act like you just need help with something. Speak the language the entire time. They’re going to be confused. Enjoy your inner secret that you’re pranking them. In the end you can either let them go or tell them you were joking. You can even tell them you are doing some social challenges as a part of a social confidence program.
Level 2: FLIRT with people in a different or made-up language.
Note: It doesnt have to go smooth as it does in this video. Remember, you don’t see the mistakes! We filmed 60 interactions to get this smooth-looking video!
Exercise 2 – Saying “I Like You” to People
This one is simple, fun and effective in getting good reactions. If you’re not getting good reactions, you might just be a little nervous and awkward about it. Keep doing it until your approach gets more smooth. If it doesn’t happen, change exercise.
Level 2: After you say “I like you”, open your arms for a hug. Some will return the act, some won’t. When you feel good doing this more and more people will hug you.
Challenge 3: Wear Something Weird In Public
My big break out of social anxiety was wearing an idiot sign on my body with a pair of underwear outside of my pants, and walk around in the city.
You can wear the same things like I did, or you can have fun creating your own avatar. Good luck!
Social Freedom Challenge Level 1 – Get Intimate With Statues
Level 1: Go to a park and act like you are a person who falls in love with statues.
Level 2: Ask a stranger to hold the camera and film you. If you do this, I would love to watch your clip, so send it to freddyfairhair@gmail.com
Social Freedom Challenge Level 2: “Accidentally” Blasting Out Embarrassing Songs in The Library
This is high level shit and it probably sounds scary, but once you are doing it, the fun will seriously outweigh the fear! If you do this you have reached a social freedom level of true viking caliber! Congrats!
Social Freedom Challenge Level 3: Level
If you can do this you are a social freedom master. The world is your oyster, sailor.
